All in the Name
In my exploration of ways to promote my book, Someday We Will, I discovered the website TeachingBooks. Their opening statement says it well:
“TeachingBooks strives to enrich everyone’s experience reading children’s and young adult books with our original and curated literary resources.”
They feature hundreds of kid lit authors and provide study guides and other resources for teachers and students. I immediately signed up and created my own author page. After all, who wouldn’t want to be in the company of authors like Eric Carle, Madeleine L’Engle, Lois Duncan, Walter Dean Myers and other notables?

One of the website’s resources is the ability for the author to create an introduction in how to pronounce his or her name. It’s a fun way to learn about the author. Here is my author link:
Another way to get my name out there and promote my book is establishing a presence on Instagram. Talk about getting out of my comfort zone. Learning this social platform reminds me of when I tried to learn how to drive stick after having driven an automatic for so many years. I’ll get the hang of it. If you want to find me on Instagram, go here.
One last promotional item–by request–BOOKPLATES!
People have contacted me wanting a book signing, yet book tours at libraries and bookstores isn’t happening…yet. Mailing books back and forth isn’t cost effective, so I’m trying out bookplates. Here is the basic idea:
- Purchase a copy (or copies–make my day) of Someday We Will
- Drop me an email at cricketmuse@gmail.com with the purchase location, store or website
- Write out how you want the dedication, and I will send you a bookplate.
- Here is a sample:

Here’s to all the books I hope you receive in packages under the tree (especially a great little picture book about being together again someday).
Take care!
All in the Name
Pam, do you still drive standard transmission vehicles? Don’t let go of that skill. It’s important for emergencies, and it is so cool when a woman drives standard.
Oh yeah, good times when I rallied my 5 speed Honda. I’m cued in.
Great to know! 👍🏻
I had never heard of TeachingBooks before, Pam; such a great resource, and your “page” looks great!
Thanks for checking it out, Becky! It’s indeed a great resource for finding out about authors.
Good to know, Pam!
I hadn’t come across this resource before, so thanks for that! I always love to disciver new authors and books. This will keep me happy for days! HAve a wonderful Christmas, my friend!
Here’s to finding more authors to enjoy and sending warm thoughts for your holidays. Take care!
